How to Update Software on iPhone

Step 1: Check for Available Updates

To see if an update is available:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap General > Software Update.

Step 2: Download and Install the Update

  • Tap Download and Install. The update may take a few minutes to download, depending on your internet speed.
  • Once the download is complete, tap Install Now.
  • Your iPhone will restart during the update process.

Step 3: Enable Automatic Updates

If you want your iPhone to automatically install updates as soon as they’re available, you can enable automatic updates:

  • Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  • Tap Automatic Updates and toggle on Download iOS Updates and Install iOS Updates.
